"Give the pupils something to do, not something to learn; and doing is of such a nature as to demand thinking; learning naturally results."

Assessment. What a heavy topic. For me, an assessment could be anything I use to see how the kids are doing. There are verbal questions, short tasks, worksheets and so many more. Among them all, my favourite is the project. Project-based assessment techniques has continued to grow within education curriculums as resources and concepts beyond traditional testing applications have evolved. There can be extensive value to the student's overall learning process with the addition of project-based learning to supplement standard curriculum material. This article is about a 2 week project I recently conducted. I am quite satisfied with what my students came up with.
It was an individual project for every student. They were going to create leaflets of their dream secondary schools as the founders. The topic was quite engaging as this group of students were about to go to their secondary schools. Making a nice leaflet was great, but the most important objective behind this project was to sharpen their abilities in designing, creative thinking, problem solving, interpersonal skills, information inquiry and presentation.
With me as their facilitator and guide, the students can acquire skills to conduct inquiry and research and show independence in learning.
The project were conducted in 5 phases:
Phase 1: Start the inquire process on the essential features of a successful school
Phase 2: Recruiting the teaching staff among your classmates
Phase 3: Start the designing process
Phase 4: Presentation-Introducing your dream school
Phase 5: Vote for your favourite project
